“I’ve been going to the Massage Therapy Center Palo Alto for a decade, and I’ve never had a bad massage there. It’s truly a little hidden gem on California Ave. The outside looks very unimpressive and inside is modest, but quiet and calm. The staff is friendly and helpful. The therapists are experts in massage therapy, and they always asked about my particular discomfort or needs on a particular day. They might be a little more expensive but it’s worth every penny. Also, they don’t cut the time – it says 60 min and each time I get my 60 min worth of massage. I’ve referred the center to my friends, family, and colleagues. “They’re the real deal. I first discovered them way back in 2010 and I’ve been coming here ever since on and off. I’ve been other places in San Mateo which are closer but the quality of the massage here is way higher. I leave feeling like I got a new neck and a new back every single time.
You have to leave some time for parking as it’s street parking and the front desk can get a little busy with everyone trying to pay at the same time. But those are minor things compared to the quality of the massage which is just outstanding.”
“I post on yelp (rarely) and only when I think the service is excellent and out of respect for the provider. I am on yelp today writing a review for a different category and am updating this one because I have been to Massage Therapy Center 10+ times over the past couple years.
Tip: Finding the right masseuse took time and trying 6+ people at different places. I was specific in what I needed (shoulders/back) and could recognize what gave the best recovery/relief. I see reviews here are mixed and that doesn’t surprise me given expectations/approaches differ for different people. It is important to find the person that listens to what you need; assesses what can be done; communicates and is skilled.
